We created MV Mosquito & Tick in 2012 after working with this effective and environmentally safe product for a year under the name Island Environmental Management. We were impressed with the results, homeowners were delighted, and we chose a new name to reflect exactly what this service provides — the freedom to reclaim your outdoor space naturally, without the worry or nuisance of summer deer ticks, mosquitos, fleas and even ants.
MV Mosquito & Tick is a division of Working Earth Organic Gardening & Landscaping, Inc., of Edgartown which was established in 1990 by Jude Villa. Andrew Kelly is the operations manager for both companies which are licensed and insured.
Jude’s business evolved over the years, from borrowing her grandfather’s landscaping equipment in her early years, to establishing what is today, Working Earth. And from the beginning, using organic products was a priority. It reflects both Jude’s commitment to the special environment around us and to her clients’ desire to have their home be safe for their families and their pets.
Andrew has a degree in landscape construction from University of Massachusetts in Stockbridge. The two have worked together for nearly 15 years and share the same sensitivity to the environment and the natural beauty of the Vineyard and Chappaquiddick. Adding integrated pest management to Working Earth’s broad inventory of services, was a natural outgrowth of the standards and care taken on every property.
Now, people can actually enjoy their outdoor gatherings and not run inside when the sun starts to set! The mosquitos are gone, the ticks aren’t lurking in the high grass and you can reclaim your backyard or deck, day or night, from May until the end of September.
